SPRINGFIELD, IL- State Senator Rose (R-Mahomet) released the following statement after Governor Pritzker’s Budget Address:
“It takes a lot of nerve to raise power bills on the working people of Illinois literally a month ago, and then stand at a podium today pretending to care about an affordability crisis you caused.
“It takes a lot of nerve to talk about “relief” while cutting the Property Tax Relief Fund and shortchanging school districts, knowing full well that the bill will land right back on the kitchen tables of working families in the form of higher property taxes.
“It takes a lot of nerve to roll out a $56 billion budget, then claim you just need another $200 million in taxes to get K-12 students what was already promised to them.
“It takes a lot of nerve, after eight straight budgets, to say you care about our developmentally disabled friends, family members, and neighbors when year after year you’ve underfunded what we send to the frontline workers who serve them every single day.
“And then, in his address, he mostly talked about love. If this is what love looks like, higher bills, higher taxes, and broken promises… then no thank you.”
