State Senator Sally Turner (R-Beason) was presented with the Illinois Association of Park Districts’ (IAPD) Outstanding Legislator of the Year Award during its annual conference.
“As someone who worked in local government before becoming a state senator, I’ve seen firsthand just how dedicated park district officials are to their communities,” said Senator Turner “It is humbling to receive recognition from the IAPD for my previous efforts and look forward to future collaboration.”
Senator Turner has been a constant supporter of park districts and recreational agencies. When presenting Senator Turner with her award, the IAPD noted Senator Turner’s sponsorship of House Bill 2033, which will allow all IAPD member agencies to file their bond ordinances electronically with the county clerk, thereby streamlining government operations.
“Senator Turner has become a leading voice for local governments throughout Illinois, including IAPD’s member agencies,” said IAPD President and CEO Peter Murphy. “We are grateful for her ongoing support of park and recreation agencies and are pleased to recognize her with the IAPD Outstanding Legislator of the Year Award.”
The Illinois Association of Park Districts has been serving park districts, forest preserves, conservation and recreation agencies since 1928. The IAPD is the oldest and most successful statewide association of its kind in the nation.
