November is Alzheimer’s Awareness Month

November is Alzheimer’s Awareness Month, an annual campaign to raise awareness about the disease and the challenges faced by individuals and families affected by it.

According to the Alzheimer’s Association, more than 7 million Americans are currently living with Alzheimer’s disease. The Illinois Department of Public Health estimates that approximately 250,000 Illinoisans age 65 and older are living with Alzheimer’s disease or a related dementia.

While Alzheimer’s can affect individuals of various ages, those age 65 and older face a higher risk of developing the disease. By 2030, all members of the baby boomer generation will be at least 65 years old, highlighting the growing importance of awareness, research, and support for those affected.

Throughout Alzheimer’s Awareness Month, individuals are encouraged to learn more about the disease, the challenges of living with Alzheimer’s, and ways to support and care for those affected.
