The Illinois General Assembly is approaching another major legislative deadline as lawmakers work to advance bills out of their original chamber.

This week marks the Third Reading deadline for Senate bills in the Senate and House bills in the House, meaning legislation must be called for a final vote in its original chamber in order to remain on track in the legislative process.

Any Senate bill that clears the Senate this week will then move to the House for further consideration, while House bills that pass the House will head to the Senate.

With the clock ticking, lawmakers in both chambers are expected to spend much of the week focused on substantive floor action.
