Illinois Senate Republican Leader Senator John Curran (R-Downers Grove) released the following statement on the passing of former Illinois Senate President James Peyton ‘Pate’ Philip who served the State of Illinois in the Illinois Assembly for 36 years:

“From the U.S. Marine Corps to President of the Illinois Senate, Pate Philip dedicated his life to the service of others. His leadership will be missed, but his impact in our community and our state will be felt for many years to come. Our caucus is mourning this great loss and sending prayers to his family and the many people who loved him.”
