Senate Republicans’ plan to address executive overreach


Governor Pritzker has spent over two years ruling the state’s response to COVID-19 unilaterally by issuing repeated disaster declarations, without any real oversight from the Illinois General Assembly. Schools, businesses, and daycares
were forced to close under one man’s direction. This is not what a democracy looks like. Senate Republicans are once again calling for an end to the Governor’s continuous emergency orders.



SB 3888: Legislative Oversight of Governor’s Emergency Powers:


Provides that the governor can only extend a disaster declaration or make further proclamations concerning the same disaster with the approval of the General Assembly
